Choosing the three winners of the GoJD Gold Memberships from the exhibiting graduates at New Designers is always a difficult task. As well as looking for designers whose work shows innovation, craftsmanship and a commercial edge, we are keen to award the memberships to graduates whose ambition it is to become a self-employed jeweller from day one.

Alicia Banton (Prayze Craze)

Alicia plans to push her collection organically, starting with her launch at New Designers, having already taken some firm orders at the exhibition. She also intends to produce bespoke exhibitions in collaboration with other artists and to work with a number of major fashion labels, with whom she is presently in dialogue.

Lydia Blackshaw

Lydia plans to set up her own studio and continue working on creating new pieces, both for exhibition projects and also a more commercial range.

Alexandra Myles

Alexandra plans to set up a workshop and online e-commerce page on her website as a first priority. She already has several years’ experience as an artisan jeweller in Bermuda whilst she was a student and can’t wait to get back to the entrepreneurial side of being a jewellery designer! Alexandra already has a few commissions in the pipeline and plans to build up a steady business taking on commissions and selling her more commercial jewellery and silverware alongside her statement pieces.
