Festival of Silver‘Inspired’ is currently showing until Saturday 12 April 2014 at the Goldsmiths' Centre as part of The Festival of Silver.

Following on from two successful collaborations in 2013 with the Furniture Makers and European silversmiths,  ‘Inspired’ is a selling exhibition of contemporary furniture and modern silversmithing.

“We are working closely with the Furniture Makers to raise the awareness and appreciation of contemporary craftsmanship in both furniture making and silversmithing,” says Gordon Hamme the founder and coordinator of Festival of Silver. “Now that we have worked together for more than one year the silversmiths were asked to create pieces which have been inspired by the contemporary furniture makers alongside whom they will be exhibiting with this year,” says Hamme.

Festival of Silver

The two exhibitions last year at the new Goldsmiths’ Centre in Clerkenwell were an opportunity to see furniture and silverware together in context without the restrictive barriers of conventional showcases. Largely sponsored by the Goldsmiths’ Company, commentators agreed that it was a beautiful, highly effective and successful selling exhibition. This year there will be the work 21 furniture makers and 60 silversmiths including Stuart Jenkins, Ian Spencer, Brett Payne and Wally Gilbert.
