The distinguished artist enameller Joan Mac Kerall is now teaching at CreatStudio in Faversham, Kent.
Joan Mac Karell trained originally in printed and woven textiles which led to her passion for enamel. She is a highly experienced teacher working at Goldsmiths College London, West Dean College and then at Sir John Cass Department of Silversmithing and Jewellery London Metropolitan University as a Senior lecturer. She is a founder member of the British Society of Enamellers and is a director of Studio Fusion Gallery in London's Oxo Tower design complex - the co-operative gallery which was set up in 1995 to promote enamel work.












During this one-day workshop, traditional techniques used in enamelling on copper are taught and enamelling on precious metals is covered in the second course.

Areas of learning will include:
•    preparation of enamels
•    preparation of metal
•    wet packing of the enamel
•    blending colour
•    cloisonne using wire techniques  
•    finishing pieces to a professional level











Emphasis will be given to the design and making of the piece prior to enamel.
‘Introduction to enamel on copper and silver’ workshop costs £85 per day with an additional cost of £10 for copper and enamels.
No previous experience of enamelling or jewellery skills are necessary to attend this course and silver stampings will be provided by the tutor at an additional cost.
