Holts Academy is to trial a pop-up shop and exhibition centre in Platform, its retail showcase for young jewellery designers.

The Academy has  been reviewing the best way it can support up and coming jewellery talent in the context of changing consumer buying and retailing trends.  Over the past three years Platform has provided a rolling three month showcase featuring a mix of designers in its Greville Street premises. Many of these designers have gone on to have successful careers in the industry.

Now the Academy plans to offer Platform as a private exhibition venue and pop-up shop. It will experiment with this concept for the next few months whilst, in parallel looking at digital marketing opportunities.  Bookings for the venue have already been made by Ganjam Jewellery, Sarah Hutchison and the Jewellery Connections project (LB Camden) over the next three months.

Holts Academy Director Lee Lucas said: "The concept of Platform as a showcase for new talent is a natural extension to our commitment to training and regenerating the jewellery industry.  We have invested significantly in developing the concept and now we plan to trial other forms of exposure for young jewellers which are in keeping with changing shopping trends. The internet clearly presents a major retail opportunity but we also want to give young designers the opportunity to exhibit their work and gain retail experience."
