About meThis little business of mine began after many years of battling with severe arthritis of my knee and fibromyalgia...plus the linked issues that are often associated with both illnesses.
My background has always been within the art, design and creative industry which began in hairdressing in my mid teen years. Maturing through the years brought a variety of opportunities to the door which led me down some wonderful roads of learning, one of the most important...becoming a mum in 1993. Years of voluntary work whilst my daughter was growing up kept me busy as did studying.
About seven or eight years ago my mobility issues began to cause small problems but five years ago my mobility saw me struggling with general every day life. I have had to admit defeat in some aspects of my life and decided to seek other less active hobbies.
As i am a fighter and rather than give up i will look for a different way of using my capabilities this led me to learn how to fuse glass, work with metals, crochet, rag rugging and allowed my creative side to flow through once more. After wearing my own creations i noticed that i was receiving more and more comments and compliments from total strangers about my jewellery so with family and friends offering their valued support i took things further and built this website.
A born hoarder and magpie that is also a left brainer (although some may say im a no brainer!) means that i am always drawn to anything thats shines, sparkles or looks unusual. 2012 has turned me into an even bigger hoarder and collector of thrifty finds, beach collecting, drift wood, left over wood from wood carving artists, left over metal from metal artists and anything else that will usually go to waste. These items have given me food for thought on how our wildlife is suffering due to human greed and thoughtlessness thus bringing to my artistic nature even more challenges on how i can incorporate items destined for landfill into beautiful wearable art. The lovely Phil Benson from http://www.workingmetals.co.uk/ kindly donated various metal pieces for me to experiment with and these will be available soon to view and buy.
I love making bespoke pieces for clients and apologise for delays in adding new work to my website. I am a designer/creator first and foremost so find this side of things gets put to one side when it shouldnt. Bear with me and more designs will appear each week
